Episode Analysis

EPISODE RECAP

As the townspeople search for the missing pregnant Fatima, Boyd discovers that Elgin knows her location and resorts to torture to extract information, while Sara ultimately forces the truth out of him by gouging out his eye, revealing that Fatima is in the Root Cellar. At the same time, Jade plays a mysterious tune at the Bottle Tree that awakens the Ghoulish Children and causes Tabitha to realize she and Jade are reincarnations of people who once tried to save the children from sacrifice, while in the Root Cellar Fatima gives birth to a pod containing the Smiley Creature, a being the original Creatures sacrificed their own children to resurrect. The episode concludes with Julie, transformed and covered in blood from visiting past story chapters, appearing to Jim with warnings, only for the Man in the Yellow Suit to kill Jim before he can escape.
