A young man runs through corridors in the Silo. He reaches a man who says "No light past this point, Tim". The man then leads him to a large crowd, up to the Sheriff who says "Why you here?" Tim presents him with a message from Engineering, "The generator will flood in 15 minutes".

We see IT Department personnel barricaded on their side of a gap in the floor cutting their level off from the Stairs. The rebels show up on the other side of the gap. They have a makeshift bridge which they drop across the hole and run across while being shot at by IT. Later, apparently after winning the battle, the Sherriff and his wife talk. He then leads the people out of the Silo and into the world, with out suits, black flag flying.

In the present time we see the black flag, much the worse for wear, flapping in the breeze as Juliette approaches. We see that the area is covered with dead bodies, thousands of them, surrounding what appears to be an entrance into another silo.

Juliette struggles to get to the ramp that leads down to the airlock. The stairs are littered with bodies of people who tried to get back into the silo. She makes her way down to the door, which is jammed open with bodies. She moves them and closes the outside door. She manages to pry open the inside door and finds herself in a sheriff's office - the same as in her silo. However, there are no people and it is very quiet. She works her way through the Level 1 Cafeteria and sees the word "Lies" painted on the display of the outside. Once she reaches the stairs, the air in her suit begins to run out and she has to break the faceplate to be able to breathe. She manages to get out of the suit and finds, in an apartment, clothing she could wear. She goes exploring.

She manages to get down to the IT level sees that there is power on this level, but also sees the hole where the bridge was blown up during the rebellion. She also notes that a couple of levels down the silo is filled with water.

We now see a young Juliette when she first arrived in mechanical. She is put on the scavenge line, taught by young Shirley. She works hard and at one point is able to fix a toy rabbit which she offers it to Shirley.

Back in the present Juliette comes up with a plan to hang a rope from the stairs above the hole and climb down to the IT side of the gap. Just as she reaches the level, her rope breaks and she falls down into water. Not knowing how to swim she panics, but is able to grab onto a plastic container floating in the water and makes her way back safely to the stairs.

Still determined to get to IT, she fabricates a lightweight bridge and is barely able to cross the chasm before the structure collapses. Exploring further she hears music and following it comes to the vault door. She tries to open it but is unable to. A panel slides open in the door and a pair of eyes appear. A voice says that he understands why she tried to do it but if she tried again, he would kill her and closes the panel.

The harder question is whether he was given a purpose to fulfill once found, or whether the people who built the plan died before they could tell him what it was.

Juliette's position as someone who knows she has been deceived may not be a threat to her silo's controllers at all. It may be exactly where they need her.
