Fatima explains her cravings to Kristi and asks what is happening to her. Kristi says were they anywhere else, she would guess that Fatima is exhibiting symptoms of a psychosomatic pregnancy. Marielle assures her that they do not think she is hysterical and they are not ruling anything out, while Kristi acknowledges that Fatima may have been pregnant. Fatima lashes out and insists that she is still pregnant and can feel something inside of her. Kristi offers to have her and Ellis stay the night but she angrily refuses and storms out. Mari goes with them to set up an IV. Kristi tells Boyd that he should have told her about Fatima’s symptoms. Boyd asks her to help, but Kristi says she does not know how, much to Boyd’s chagrin, and he angrily tells her to do her job.

In Colony House, Victor demands that Jasper speak to him. He is interrupted by the arrival of his father. Henry warns that he needs to stop, as Jasper is just a doll. Victor tells Henry that he doesn’t understand, grabbing the doll and leaving.

Downstairs, Tillie and Elgin discuss a gift that Elgin has made for Fatima. After Tillie leaves, the polaroid camera spontaneously prints a photo, disturbing Elgin. Upstairs, Mari hooks Fatima up to an IV. Mari sympathizes with Fatima, saying she understands what it is like to feel violated by the Township. Marielle admits that she vividly remembers her experience with the Music Box Monster. Mari explains that she refuses to let fear break her, but Fatima says this is different. Fatima tries to explain that she is eating garbage because whatever is inside her is making her. Ellis arrives, and after Mari leaves, Fatima asks why no one is listening to her. Ellis says they are simply trying to make sure they are thinking of every possibility. Fatima asks Ellis if he believes her, and she tries to explain that whatever is growing inside her is getting stronger, including her cravings and anger. She tearfully says that if the baby is not real, then she is changing.

As Boyd and Donna stroll, the two discuss Fatima’s pregnancy. Boyd says the two possibilities are that there is something there like the worms beneath his skin, or the Township finally got to her, and Donna notes the similarity to Abby. Donna tells him that if the cause is supernatural, they will have to deal with it. If the issue is psychological, they will have to figure out a way to help Fatima. Boyd asks to keep this between them, and says he hopes by then Kristi will have figured something out. Donna repeatedly asks what his plan is, and Boyd says he is telling her because they promised to not keep secrets and because Fatima is living under her roof. Donna then remarks that she does not think it wise for Fatima to be in Colony House, noting the dangers associated with both possibilities. Boyd is shocked at first but agrees, and plans on making room for them at the Sheriff’s Office.

At the Settlement, Jim and the others prepare to return to Town with the food they’ve gathered, with one of his companions noting that whatever lurks outside the cabins at night does not sound like the Creatures. Tabitha then arrives with Jade and Ethan, surprising Jim. They explain that Tabitha had visions of the Settlement as a child.

At the Clinic, Julie arrives as Randall exits, preparing to go for a walk. Despite his saying he wants to be alone, Julie joins him. At the Root Cellar, Elgin examines the photo that printed spontaneously, which is of the Root Cellar doors. Elgin descends inside, and finds the doors in the back, which lead to an empty cabinet. After Elgin closes the cabinet doors, he hears knocking. He moves the cabinet and finds a secret room containing an overturned cot.

At the Church graveyard, Acosta looks over Nicky’s grave. Meanwhile, Kenny finds his mother’s tea in the Diner. As he is reminiscing, Acosta arrives and he apologetically informs her that they no longer serve food. Acosta asks why there is a Diner, Sheriff’s Office/Post Office and travel agency sign. Acosta further asks why no one is asking her questions and Kenny admits they already have. Kenny then offers her tea.

At the Settlement, Ethan remarks that the place is creepy, and asks who lived out there. Jade admits he does not know, and warns him to look out for bear traps. Jim theorizes that Tabitha might be trying to make connections that aren’t there, but she reiterates that she had this dream for months, and it had the exact same Totems as the Settlement. Jim warns that previous attempts at trying to figure things out have ended in failure or death. Tabitha says those were different because they happened once they became trapped in the Township, but she had her dreams as a child before she ever arrived in the Township. Tabitha says she needs to find out what it means, and Jim agrees.

As Julie and Randall walk, Julie explains her mother’s visions while her father is afraid because the last time he tried to figure things out, he almost died. Randall, who is not listening, explains he is looking for a specific kind of mushroom. Julie asks what he was doing on the bus, and he explains that he was heading to Detroit. As they talk, Julie reveals that she never got her learner’s permit, shocking Randall, who tells her to follow him.

In the Diner, Kenny explains that things are different when people first arrive, as they think that they will be the person able to figure everything out and free themselves. However, as time goes on that feeling passes. Acosta refuses to accept this, but Kenny explains that he has been on both sides of this conversation, and everyone eventually realizes that every question and theory has been posited before, and people either adapt or lose their mind. As he talks about how he adapted, he reveals that both of his parents died in the Township, and Acosta expresses her condolences. After Kenny asks, Acosta admits she does not really have family back home. Kenny points out that they have Talismans, which keep them safe at night, and that Boyd found them. Acosta begins complaining about Boyd taking her gun and his attitude towards her. Kenny offers her fresh clothes, but Acosta snaps at him that she does not want to grow comfortable in the Township. The Jukeboxes begin playing O-o-h Child as Acosta leaves, pushing Bakta out of the way as she does. Bakta informs Kenny that she was hoping to reopen the Diner.

In the Root Cellar, Elgin resets the bed and pulls a blanket off a decayed skeleton, which horrifies him. The Kimono Woman appears, and Elgin turns and asks if this is really where it happens. Meanwhile, Victor arrives at Sara’s with Jasper and asks to use her basement to get Jasper to tell him a secret.

At Colony House, Randall and Julie get inside the van, and he begins teaching her how to drive. In the kitchen, Donna is washing dishes when Henry arrives in search of something to drink. Donna admits she could also use one, and invites him to follow her.

In the Sheriff’s Office, Boyd returns to find the place ransacked. He finds Acosta, searching for her gun. She demands he return her gun, and he simply orders her to leave. Boyd reminds her that she shot someone in a panic, but she defends her actions. Boyd says that until she proves herself able to handle things, he will not give her a loaded gun. Acosta reminds him that she is an actual cop. Boyd asks when she graduated the academy, and when she says it is not his business, he tells her that everything about her and the Township are his business because he keeps people safe and alive. Acosta retorts that he has been doing a poor job it lately, and repeats his order to leave. Acosta repeats her request for her gun, and Boyd returns it, but only after unloading the bullets, telling her that she will receive those when he believes she deserves it. As she leaves, he says that they will have a problem if she returns without his permission.

At the Bar, Donna asks Henry if things are alright with Victor. Henry answers he does not think they are, and admits part of him thought he wishes Tabitha never found him as it was easier when he thought he was dead. Henry is shamed by the thought.

At the Settlement, the Matthews and Jade arrive at the three red rocks. Ethan asks if they are the same as her dream, and Tabitha says everything is identical, including the feeling of fear. Tabitha retraces her steps in her dreams, but cannot remember what it was that was frightening her. Jim asks how this helps, while Jade remarks that maybe Tabitha was chosen and destined to arrive, like Miranda.

In Colony House, Tillie finds Ellis and inquires about Fatima. Ellis says they are taking things one step at a time, and she says she knows he is lying, as Fatima told her about the cravings. Tillie offers her support for them both. Ellis reveals that they did an ultrasound the previous night, but found no baby, and the two possibilities are that there is something supernatural growing inside her or she’s lost her mind. Ellis worries about losing her but Tillie says that Fatima is not lost, and says that a friend told her not to grieve the living before they’re gone, as she told her family before she was diagnosed with cancer. Ellis asks if she was afraid of dying, and she admits she was before becoming angry. Eventually, she realized how small and quick life is, and eventually came to terms with it. Tillie reiterates that she is there to offer whatever help she can. Ellis asks why, and she replies that she is old, has cancer, and likes a good love story. As Fatima lies in bed, she begins vomiting as something causes her stomach to contort, and she cries out. When Ellis and Tillie arrive, her stomach returns to normal, and he tries to comfort her.

As the two drive, Julie asks for a turn at the wheel. However, Randall begins seeing cicadas. He stops the van and becomes overwhelmed. After he recovers, he says they should go home and storms out into the Forest.

At the Clinic, Boyd arrives and finds Kristi and Ellis arguing over Ellis trying to take powerful antipsychotics to give to Fatima. Kristi warns that the pills can make things worse, and Boyd agrees with her. Ellis storms out, followed by his father. Ellis, exasperated, asks what he is supposed to do, recalling Boyd’s worms and his mother’s fate, asking which nightmare he should fear. Ellis admits that he is helpless as he watches her fall apart. As Boyd pulls him into a hug, he begs his father not to let anything happen to her.  

Julie follows Randall, and they find the ruins of the Dungeon. Julie begins feeling something, and is drawn toward the ruins, but Randall stops her from going further. Julie asks if he feels it too, but Randall says he does not and they need to get the van back to Colony House.

Fatima goes to the greenhouse and tries to resist the urge to eat the rotted food. However, she begins doubling over in pain as Tillie arrives and tries to help her. Tillie tries to reassure her that things will be alright, but Fatima snaps, grabbing a set of shears and stabbing Tillie in the chest. As Fatima stares in horror and calls for help, Tillie tells Fatima that she has to run with her dying breath. Fatima continues panicking, as Ellis arrives at the scene.
